Berlin, Germany.

On our first day we decided to do a bike tour to get familiar with the city. I always find bike or walking tours the best way to discover a city in the first 24 hours.

I would HIGHLY recommend Fat Tire Bike Tours if you are planning on heading to Berlin. I don’t want to spoil too much for you but I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Just a few highlights of what we saw; The Reichstag Building, The Holocaust Memorial, Hitler’s Bunker and parts of the Berlin Wall.

Also remember to keep on the right side of the road! As I was yelled at by an angry German how ironic haha.

On our last night we got the train to Alexander-Platz where there was an Oktoberfest festival set up in the main square. It was amazing, the huts were designed as giant ginger bread houses with all the Curry Wurst and Nutella crepes you could imagine! And of course beer, beer and more beer! The boys called this their ‘pre season’ for drinking beer as we were heading to Munich the next day for the real deal!

This same night we tried to have an early night as we planned to wake up at 5.15am to head down to the only pub in town that was showing the AFL Grand Final of course we weren’t aware that you needed to pre-buy the tickets!

Oh and don’t forget if you ever visit Germany of course you cannot go without a Schnitzel! But in Berlin you HAVE to go to Schnitzelkönig (Schnitzel King) in Prenzlauer Berg. Mouth watering good!
