Spending 7 nights on a Turkish Gulet in the Mediterranean with 2 of your best mates, what more could you want? The week that we spent sailing along the Turkish coast would have to be one of the most amazing things I have ever done!

Our initial plan was to do Sail Croatia but Im so glad that we wanted to try somewhere different!

We went with Topdeck Tours which I would highly recommend:

We flew from Istanbul to Dalaman then caught a local bus to Fethiye. The night before the sail started we stayed at the V-Go Hotel in Fethiye. This hotel is in perfect location on the marina, we sat upstairs on the open patio and watched the sunset as we prepared ourselves for an unpredictable week!

We spent our first afternoon chatting to our newest boat buddies and getting used to that swaying boat feeling.

As our cabins weren’t air-conditioned the best idea seemed to be to sleep up on the sunbeds on the open deck. It was so incredible to lay and watch the stars at night and wake up with the sun. Every morning the captain rang his bell to wake us up and we would all go for a quick dip before breakfast! Our chef cooked us 3 meals a day! Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner every single day! He also knew little english so he just smiled and waved alot, Bless.

We docked at some beautiful places such as Tarzan Bay, Butterfly Valley, Blue Lagoon, St Nicholas Island, Kas and a random Island bar called ’Smugglers Inn’ it was actually in the middle of nowhere and the only way to get to it was by boat!

Majority of our days were spent tanning on the deck or floating on pool toys in the water. When we were docked at St Nicholas Island there was a turkish man and women driving around on a small dingy built with a shade and portable crepe maker! I was ordering a Banana Nutella Crepe while tanning on the boat somewhere along the turkish coast, crazy right?

Another highlight was swimming with green sea turtles that seemed to be alot faster than me! As I didn’t get a chance to take any photos. Bumma.

The week was a good balance of partying and relaxing. Whether it was Captain serving us happy hour drinks with what he would call ‘Bad’ dance music or relaxing on the deck watching the sunset it was truly amazing.

Even after only knowing your new friends for 7 days its true that these friendships will last a lifetime! Or at least your memories will.
