York – The home of the most amazing pork bun you will ever eat.

Haha but seriously if you had such an amazing piece of food I’m sure you wouldn’t forget it either!

York is a small medieval town in England which of course is filled with history. We got the train from Chester which took around 3 hours. We spent our first afternoon walking the York City Walls that guards the perimeter of the town.  It was pretty amazing as the walls are at least 4-5 metres high which gives you some amazing views of the town and also what is beyond the walls.

It took us around a day to fully explore the town, we visited The Shambles alleyway which is one of the oldest streets in town with rustic timber-framed buildings that are pretty cool to explore as there are also many little shops. Walking through the town we found a bakery, a normal ‘aussie style’ bakery with homemade sausage rolls and pasties! I remember Kurt ordered about 4 or 5 pastries he was so excited. We then wandered down to the Museum Gardens with our lunch, had a picnic  and did some squirrel spotting.

It was this night that we discovered the most amazing pork bun! It was from the York Roast co, a small little shop on a corner and not far walk from the York Minster. If you ever visit York don’t forget the famous Pork Bun!
